Naples Youth Soccer is pleased to announce the addition of newly arrived FGCU assistant coach Erin Switalksi to our coaching staff. Erin will start with our Naples girls' teams in the middle of August. She will provide weekly team training opportunities as well as skills and goalkeeper training. Erin will also expand and strengthen our link with the FGCU women's program.

Last week nearly 50 soccer players attended a Naples Sharks summer camp focused on the skills of the World Cup stars. The afternoon session at Seagate Park was a goal-scoring camp that covered many of the individual technical skills and group tactical plays to score goals

Six Naples Sharks teams advanced after the first weekend of Region C Cup action on February 20-21. The U11 Boys White and U12 Boys Red advance to the round of 16 in Division 2.

Sharks Claim Two Champs and a Finalist in Southwest Florida League Tournament

In the Southwest Florida League tournament held February 6-7, the U11 White boys team won the U12 Silver division, the U12 White boys team won the U12 Gold division and the U12 White girls team was runner-up in the U12 Girls Silver division.

The Club entered seven teams in the 23rd Annual Plantation Thanksgiving Classic soccer tournament November 27-29. Over 270 teams from throughout Florida took part in the traditional holiday weekend event. Four Naples Sharks teams reached the finals and all four came away victorious.

Camille Lewis, a longtime member of the U18 girls team, was recently awarded a $250 college scholarship by the Florida State League, one of several leagues under the auspices of the Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA).

Two former Sharks played for the Barry University Buccaneers in Miami Shores this fall. Jena Cernuto finished her collegiate career as a five-year letter winner who played in 75 games, this year starting in 15 of 16 games. She will graduate with a physical education major and a minor in psychology.

Damarys Mendez, a junior at Barry, also started 15 of the 17 games she played in, scoring two goals and contributing three assists from her midfield position.

CJ Winton, a member of the U15 boys team, was recently voted Rookie of the Year by his high school varsity teammates at Canterbury School , which plays fall soccer because the school has no American football program. CJ played various positions for the team, scoring 6 goals and dishing out 3 assists.
